Our Story

Our Story

We met on July 7th, 2018. The sparks flew right away— both in our hearts and over our heads as we watched fireworks together on the night that we met. We were introduced to each other at a friend’s Independence Day party and instantly clicked. We became good friends and spent a lot of time together the rest of that summer. It was the kind of friendship that had people asking “is there something going on between those two?”

Our first date

I went back to school in Eau Claire that fall and Isaac stayed in the cities, but we made it a point to see each other when I was in town. In April, I invited Isaac to a formal dance at my school, and I think he finally got the hint because 2 weeks later he asked me out on our first date- which was kayaking and dinner in White Bear Lake.

In the time since then, we’ve stayed busy with a few shared hobbies and working towards our careers. We enjoy boating, biking, hiking, snowboarding, board games, music, and cooking together. In the first few years of dating, Isaac commuted to Menomonie for flight training while I completed my BS in Education at UWEC, which helped us see each other more often as we were long distance for a few years! In 2022 I graduated and moved back to the Twin Cities where we both live now.

Our engagement

In July 2024, I suggested to Isaac that we take an impromptu weekend trip to Grand Marais. I was half joking, but surprisingly Isaac was instantly on board with it. Turns out, he had purchased my engagement ring and was already planning a trip up north to propose.

We drove up to Grand Marais on July 28th, stopping at our usual stops like Palisade Cliffs and Cascaade. Then when we got to Grand Marais we got dinner at the Angry Trout and Isaac suggested we go for a walk on Artist’s Point. Isaac brought a backpack with his photography drone, and kept telling me he was looking for a good spot to take off from. Turns out, he was on his phone trying to coordinate location with his friend who was dressed up in a disguise waiting to take pictures of us. When Isaac found “the spot” he called me over and before I knew it he was on his knee with a ring in hand!

And that brings us to now! We both live in St Paul, close to our families, and we plan to stay here for the foreseeable future. I am a 3rd grade teacher at Minnehaha Academy and Isaac is a PM at a construction company, continuing to build hours on the side for his aviation career. We’re looking forward to seeing you, and so many of our friends and family members at our wedding!
